Girls Cross Country moves onto CIF SS Finals!

Pacifica Christian High School’s girls cross country team surges into the CIF Southern Section Finals after an exceptional performance last Friday at the Mt. SAC Prelims—made even more impressive by the steady rain that turned the notoriously challenging route into an even tougher test. Despite the weather, 6 of the girls ran their fastest time of the season, showcasing grit, focus, and postseason intensity when it mattered most. With 98 athletes competing in their division, the Tritons rose to the occasion and earned their place among the finalists.

Leading the charge was senior standout Lila Glidewell, who stormed to a 2nd-place finish in 18:39, one of the fastest times of the entire day. She set the tone early, attacking the course with confidence and closing strong. Charlotte Beck followed with a strong 20th-place finish at 20:54, and Taylor Gundlach was close behind, placing 22nd with a time of 21:08. Their ability to stay poised in a crowded and competitive field proved crucial for Pacifica’s overall score.

The Tritons’ depth shined as well, with Erowyn Burnett, Addie Burk, Vanessa Sesler, and Astrid Hong each contributing essential points toward the team’s advancement. Every runner showed resilience in the slick conditions, demonstrating the strength and unity that have defined the team’s season.

The Lady Tritons will head to Mt. Sac College again this coming Saturday, November 22 for the CIF SS Finals. Their race will start at 9:25 AM.
