Girls Cross Country Advances to State! | Second Year in a Row!

For the second time in a row, the Pacifica Christian Girls Cross Country Team has advanced to the CIF State Race next Saturday, November 30th, in Fresno, California. Last year, the team finished seventh out of sixteen, and Ella Murray '23 clinched the CIF Individual title, a first in program history.

It has been another historic year for the Cross Country Program, as the team clinched the San Joaquin League Title earlier this month under first-year Head Coach Neil Massaro. The stage was set, as the Tritons advanced to the CIF Finals last week, finishing in the top of their heat at Prelims. This morning the girls raced at Mt. Sac needing to finish in the top six out of sixteen teams in order to advance and they did just that, taking fourth overall. The Orange and Navy had seven runners out there this morning, and the score is based on the top five runners, with the total in the field being 117 girls.

The Orange and Navy were led by Junior Lila Glidewell who crossed the line first for the Tritons, finishing 12th overall with a time of 20:10.  Just a few seconds later, Senior Ashley Gundlach crossed the line, finishing 14th overall with a time of 20:25.1. Senior Akyli Maze was third for the squad as she came over the line at 21: 51.4 and right behind her was Katie Fischer running a 22:11.8 Rounding things out for the team score was freshman Erowyn Burnette running a 23:10.3. "Our girls did a tremendous job!" said Head Coach Neil Massaro "They continually excel and prove themselves even when odds are against them. We have a strong team and they've worked so hard to get to this moment!

The Tritons will race next Saturday, November 30th at Woodward Park in Fresno, racing in the Division 5 heat at 11:30am.
