Girls Volleyball on Five-Game Win Streak
The Pacifica Christian Girls Volleyball Team has been on a five-game winning streak, dating back to September 26th when they swept Fairmont Prep on the road. Since then, they have defeated Webb, Avalon twice, and Western Christian. The squad is now 15-6 overall and 8-1 in league play.
The Orange and Navy traveled over to Catalina this past Saturday to take on Avalon High School in two league matchups. The Tritons left the island with two wins, both 3-0 sweeps against the Lancers. Sophomore setter Addie Roberson had a solid showing on Saturday as she combined for seven aces, three blocks, and 10 digs in the two games against the Lancers. Senior Colleen O'Callaghan tallied two aces and 10 digs.
The Tritons brought the momentum with them up to Upland on Tuesday as they swept Western Christian 3-0, for the second time this season. The team battled hard in each set, defeating the Lancers 25-22, 25-18 and 25-18. Leading the Orange and Navy were Juniors Chara Wondercheck and Kaelin Rieke. Wondercheck had 12 kills and one block, while Rieke had seven aces and one block. Junior libero Kaitlyn Dion was steady on defense as she tallied eight digs, alongside Addie Roberson who also had eight.
Assistant Coach Amanda Ammann stated, "Our girls played tough against the strong offensive efforts of Western Christian. The coaching staff and I are so proud of these girls for taking care of business and staying in the lead throughout the night. This game was important not just for having another win under our belt going into post-season play, but for keeping strong momentum moving forward as we face some tough league opponents coming up!"
The squad will return to the Triton Event Center and host the Lions of TVT on Thursday, October 5th, starting at 4:30 pm. This will be the second time the Tritons face the Lions, as the team is looking for a win for a second-place spot in league. The Tritons have yet to face CVCS this season, who are the favorites to win the league. They will host the Eagles on Monday, October 9th which will be Senior Night as well as Dig Pink.
