Tritons Defeat Webb 11-7, Improve to 2-0

The Pacifica Christian Girls Tennis team was back in action this afternoon as they hosted the visiting Gauls from the Webb Schools. The Tritons entered the day 1-0 after coming off a solid win last week against Valley Christian. In a very back-and-forth match the whole afternoon, the Orange and Navy pulled away with the victory, winning 11-7.

The team came onto the courts prepared for their opponent, knowing it was going to be a competitive matchup. Last year, the Tritons were co-league Champions with Webb, as both teams finished the season with only one loss in league play. The Orange and Navy were led again by standout singles player Kiana Guinta. Kiana won all three of her sets: 6-0, 6-2, 6-1, earning three points for the Tritons. Senior Lexie MacDougall had another stellar performance as she also went 3-0 against her opponent, winning her sets 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, adding another three points onto the scoreboard. Rounding off the singles matches was senior Aubrey Callaghan who tallied to the Tritons lead, giving them seven points total from the singles category.

There were some strong double appearances by the new two varsity additions to the squad this year, sophomores Ava and Ali Hudy were solid winning two sets. Junior Sara Read and Senior Kate Coulsell pulled away with a big set win while sophomores Kamryn Guinta and London Willhoit finished it off, winning their final set to secure the victory.

The Orange and Navy improved to 2-0 on the season, 1-0 in the San Joaquin League. The squad is back in action tomorrow for another tough matchup as they travel to Oxford Academy who are currently on the Division 4 preseason watchlist. The match starts at 3:00 pm.
