Girls Soccer Starts Season 4-0
Girls Soccer has been off to a solid start this year as they are 4-0 two weeks into the season. The Tritons are led by Head Coach Brandon Gonzalez who enters his ninth year as Head Coach of this program, making him one of two coaches who have been with Pacifica since its opening in 2015.
The Orange and Navy first traveled over to Catalina to take on Avalon High School then traveled up to Pasadena to take on Maranatha High School. Against the Avalon Lancers, sophomore Lana Stewart picked up just where she left off last season, being the dominant goal scorer for the team. Stewart had seven goals and is the new record holder for most goals in a single game in the girl's soccer program. The team then traveled up to Pasadena, where the Tritons battled in some tough and rainy conditions. Senior Payten Dobrick had the game-winner off a set piece just outside the 18-yard box to give the squad a 2-1 victory.
The team had their home opener on Monday, November 20th when they hosted La Quinta High School out of Westminster. After a scoreless first half, Seniors Talia Proctor and Maggie Contreras put two in the back of the net to defeat Aztects 2-1. A week later, the Orange and Navy hosted the Eagles of Calvary Chapel in what would be their fourth win of the season. Freshman Addie Mrosek put the Tritons on the board after a shot outside the 18 went over the Eagles Goalkeeper. Talia Proctor was next to score on a volley off a corner kick and going into halftime, the squad was up 2-1. Lana Stewart added some cushion to the Triton's lead as she had the third and final goal of the game, keeping the squad undefeated after four games.
"Super proud of the team so far and their determination to stay in games." said Coach Gonzalez "The girls continue to step up in key situations and I am looking forward to the rest of the season with this group!"
The Orange and Navy will play three more times this week. They travel to Rosary on Thursday, November 30th, then head down south to take on Cornerstone Christian on Friday and Temecula Prep on Saturday.
