Girls Soccer on Six Game Win Streak
Pacifica Christian Girls Soccer is off to one of their best starts in school history. After playing 17 games so far, the team closed out 2023 on a high note and looks forward to some rest and recovery before they pick back up in the new year.
The Orange and Navy, led by founding Head Coach Brandon Gonzalez, who is in his ninth year at the helm, are currently 14-2-1, 1-0 in league play, and are ranked #10 in the latest CIF-SS Division 4 Polls. "I am extremely proud of the girls and all they have accomplished so far this season," said Coach Brandon. "This is our first year competing in Division 4, and to be ranked going into the break, as well as being 1-0 in the league, feels pretty good." The Tritons who are currently on a six-game winning streak, have outscored their opponents 77-11, recorded nine shutouts, and have not given up a goal in their last five games. The team is led by Lana Stewart and Talia Proctor who have proven to be unstoppable up top for the Tritons, as well as Senior Biola University committ Chloe Nguyen who has six assists and is the anchor in midfield.
The program competes in the San Joaquin League consisting of Western Christian, Webb, Fairmont Prep, and CVCS. This league is one of the toughest leagues in Orange County, with four of the five teams being ranked in the top 10 of their respective divisions, two of them currently holding the number one spot. The Orange and Navy's first league win this season came at home against Western Christian where the Tritons beat the Lancers 2-1 with both goals scored by sophomore Lana Stewart. The visiting Lancers are currently the number one ranked team in Division 3 and hold a place on the CIF-SS Open Division Watch List.
The Tritons will take on Magnolia High School on Thursday, January 4th at 10:00 am at Vanguard University. Magnolia won the Division 7 CIF Championship Title last season. The Orange and Navy's next San Joaquin matchup will be on Friday, January 12th on the road against CVCS. The game will be held at Escencia Sports Park.
