Girls Soccer on Ten Game Winning Streak
Pacifica Christian Girls Soccer has just won 18 games, the most in a single season in program history, and there is still plenty of time left for more. The Tritons are now 18-2-1, 2-0 in San Joaquin League play, and are on a 10-game winning streak. In the latest CIF-SS Division 4 polls, the Orange and Navy are sitting tied for 10th and have maintained that spot since December 18th.
Over the winter break, the Tritons had five non-league contests where they combined for 15 goals and one goal against, keeping four shutouts. The team had their second league game of the season this past Friday as they traveled down to South County to take on CVCS in what would be their first meeting of the season. In a back-and-forth game, the Tritons would finally get one in the back of the net late in the second half by sophomore Kenna Smith.
The Orange and Navy are led by the continual leadership of this year's large senior class. Senior Biola University commit Chloe Nguyen has been steady in midfield alongside freshman Addie Mrosek and sophomore Audrina Bonilla. Up top Maggie Contreras, Talia Proctor, and Emalee Hernandez have been putting the ball in the back of the net and been a huge offensive threat. Defensively the Tritons have kept 12 shutouts with Senior Sam Davidson anchoring the back line. The squad has six games left, three on the road and three at home. This is a big week for the team, with three very tough league matchups. They will host Fairmont Prep on Tuesday and CVCS on Wednesday before heading inland to take on Western Christian this Friday Night.
With only six games left, the Orange and Navy are looking to continue their winning streak the rest of the month and secure a spot in the postseason. The San Joaquin League is one of the most competitive small school leagues with teams representing Divisions 3, 4, 5, and 6 where anyone can beat anyone depending on the day.
