Tritons Sweep Braves in Three
The Pacifica Christian Boy's Volleyball Program kicked off their season last week and held their first home match of the year on Tuesday afternoon against St. John Bosco High School. Head Coach Tim Maruyama's squad secured a 3-0 sweep over the Braves to earn themselves a 3-0 record.
The Tritons opened up the first set with a six-point run that propelled them past the Braves and take the first set 25-13. The second began much more competitively, with the two squads trading points on every serve. Once the Orange and Blue hit double digits, they pulled away from the Braves and took the second set 25-16. Up by two sets, the Tritons entered the third confidently. St. John Bosco did not back down though and stayed right with Maruyama's squad through the set. However, another five-point run from the Tritons helped earn them a 25-23 win.
"It was such a blast to host our first home game of the year," remarks Maruyama. "We let our starters get out there and do their thing the first set and won with a commanding score of 25-13 against a talented team. We did a great job neutralizing their pin hitters and keeping the ball on their side of the net. It was fun to try new lineups and even let our young guns play the last set and take a W all on their own".
