Track and Field 2023-2024 Season Outlook
The Track and Field team returns to the track after a very historical season last year where the Tritons broke multiple records and sent the highest number of athletes to CIF. After only graduating four seniors, the Tritons return most of their squad from last season. With over 50 athletes in the program, the Orange and Navy are led by the continual leadership of Josh Espinoza. Espinoza who enters his sixth year as head coach was Coach of the Year last season. Alongside Espinoza are assistant coaches Neil Massaro, Marc Opena, Mike Connell, and Ryan Fischer. "When asked about the upcoming season, Coach Josh said "As our track and field team continues to grow in numbers, I'm most excited about how this team loves being competitors. After a historic 2023 spring season, our girls and boys programs have their sights set on podium finishes at the league."
Runners to watch this season are Seniors Aiden Hart and Ella Murray. Hart is a four-year track and field athlete who has set and broken multiple of his own records. Aiden qualified for the CIF Southern Section Finals in the 300M Hurdles as a junior and has his eyes set on another appearance in the postseason as well as breaking his own school records. Ella Murray made history at Pacifica Christian during her senior cross-country season. The senior transfer is an All-State Runner, CIF Southern Section Division 5 Champion in Cross Country, and has a huge track season on the horizon.
All league clusters will be held at the Webb Schools in Claremont. League Prelims are set for Friday, April 19th and League Finals are on Wednesday, April 24th. There are seven seniors set to run this year, four boys and three girls.
