Surf Team Secures First Sunset League Victory Over Marina

In the 2024 season opener, the Pacifica Christian surf team defeated the Marina High School Vikings 81-66, marking their first victory in the Sunset League this year. With a strong showing from their underclassmen, the Tritons showcased their depth and determination, setting the tone for what promises to be a thrilling season ahead.

With minimal waves on Thursday morning, both teams had to get creative to get points, battling for every wave they could find. Despite the challenging conditions, four Tritons took first in their respective heats: Katie Fischer, Dylan Streiff, Wyatt Swick, and Tripp Nehrig. Christian Batley, Katie Fischer, Charlotte Gehard, and Nathan Wintrode took second in their heats. Pacifica Christian displayed impressive teamwork, technique, and perseverance, pulling ahead of the Vikings and never looking back.

Coach Nehrig was very excited with his team's performance this morning, stating "This is just the beginning for us, and we're excited for what's to come!"

With their first Sunset League victory in the books, the Tritons are already looking ahead to their next match, as they prepare to host the Huntington Beach High School Oilers, on October 2. It's shaping up to be another exciting contest as Pacifica Christian continues to build momentum and set their sights on a successful season.
