Tritons score four in the sixth to come from behind and beat Lancers 6-3



The Pacifica Christian Tritons scored four runs in the sixth inning, beating the visiting Western Christian Lancers 6-3 in their first of three San Joaquin League meetings. The Tritons had eight hits and seven walks, while the Lancers had six hits and only two walks. Luke Miller had three hits, and two RBIs for the Orange and Navy, singling in the fifth, second, and fourth innings. Freshman Carter Canada went two for four at the plate while Rowen Gale and Scout Escobedo each collected an RBI. 

In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Tritons trailed 2-3 as Carter Canada singled on a line drive to the right fielder to lead off. Keegan DeMots drew a walk, then lead-off hitter Blake Hayes singled, loading the bases with only one out. The Tritons took back the lead after Scout Escobedo and Johnny Coopman both drew a walk leading now 4-3. Followed by a Western Christian error scoring the fifth run, Luke Miller drew another walk scoring the sixth and final run. 

Junior Jon Stone got the start on the mound this afternoon as he threw five innings, allowing six hits and three runs, one earned, striking out five and walking one. Johnny Coopman came in for relief for Stone in the top of the sixth. Coopman faced seven batters, striking out two and allowing no runs and no hits. The Tritons are now 4-1 in league play and 9-6 overall. 

The Orange and Navy will travel to Upland for game two against Western Christian on this Friday April 11th at 3:30pm.
