Tritons show well at Irvine Invitational
The Triton Track and Field team showed well at the Asics Irvine Invitational on Saturday as seven different athletes competed across ten events. "It was a super good day, first track meet ever for Cannon and Jackson, and they had a great showing as well as some personal bests from Taylor and Ryleigh" said first year Head Coach Neil Massaro.
Freshman Dax Mason ran the first event of the day for the Tritons, running the F/S 110M Hurdles in a time of 23.21. Senior Taylor Zeulner had a new PR in the 100M dash running a 14.57. Zeulner also ran the 200M later in the day, crossing the line at 31.78.
Freshmen Cannon Reynolds and Jackson Cantrell competed in two events, the 100M and the 200M. Cantrell took first in his heat for the 200M, crossing the line in 24.58 seconds while Reynolds was just behind him finishing third with a time of 25.61.
Senior Lila Glidewell and Junior Akyli Maze both ran the women's varsity 800M, finishing just a few seconds apart. Maze crossed the line with a time of 2:31 and Glidewell was just behind her at 2:39. Sophomore Ryleigh Cross had a personal best in the shot put event, throwing 22'5.
The Tritons have their first WAC League Cluster this week on Tuesday, March 12th at Webb.
