Bio

Coach Ron comes to Pacifica Christian with over 40 years of coaching experience at the club, high school, and collegiate levels. Early in his career, Ron coached at Edison High School, Esperanza High School, and El Dorado High School before being recruited to be the Head Girls' Varsity Coach at Corona High School. While at Corona, he inherited a program with a decade-long losing record and in two short years, guided them to a .500+ record and a CIF appearance two years later.

After Corona High School, Coach Ron was hired as the Head Girls' Varsity Coach at Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA. While at Mater Dei, Ron developed Mater Dei Girls Volleyball into a nationally recognized team, creating the foundation for the powerhouse program it is today. In four short years, he guided the Monarch’s Volleyball program to three consecutive South Coast League Championships, the program's first CIF Final and State appearance in school history, and a historic 23-2 record and the #2 ranking in the country, behind Mother McAuley Liberal Arts School in Chicago. They were also ranked #1 in California that same year.

During this time, Coach Ron was also a volunteer assistant coach at NCAA Division I Long Beach State for four years and then moved over to NCAA Division I Cal State Fullerton. During his collegiate tenure, Coach Ron specialized in serve-receiving and defense and maintained his position as the setter coach at Cal State Fullerton. Coach Ron was also the founder of Impact Volleyball Club based out of Yorba Linda, CA. He spent 15 years growing and developing the club before stepping away to spend more time with his growing family and ultimately, to coach his children as they started playing club and high school volleyball themselves.

Coach Ron graduated with his B.A. in History from Cal State Fullerton and then went on to get his Master's Degree in Church & Educational Leadership from Vanguard University. Before becoming a teacher, Ron spent five years as a youth pastor at Friends Church in Yorba Linda. After his pastoral career, Ron taught U.S. & World History at MacArthur Fundamental Intermediate School in Santa Ana, CA for 24 years. In recent years, Coach Ron has served as the Head Girl's Coach at Northwood High School, Head Girl's Beach Volleyball Coach at Foothill High School, and currently serves as an Assistant Coach/Advisor at Beckman High School, working with both their Boys and Girls programs. He is also the Girls 14s-1 Head Coach at Left Coast Volleyball Club.

In his free time, Coach Ron enjoys anything outdoors but specifically loves playing beach volleyball. He is a committed athlete, playing 2-3 times a week. Ron has been married to his beautiful wife, Heidi, for 30 years, and has three grown children, Summer, Corey, and Amber, as well as a family dog named Guss (a Basset Hound, of course!) Coach Ron and his wife attend Christ Community Church in Laguna Hills.
