All Four Teams Qualify for Postseason!
For the second year in a row, all four winter sports have earned a spot in the postseason. Pacifica Christian will send all four teams including Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer, Girls Basketball, and Boys' Basketball to the postseason!
GIRLS SOCCER: 15-8-2
The Triton Girls Soccer Program has secured a spot in the postseason for the second year in a row. The team finished the year with a record of 15-8-2 and went 4-4 in the San Joaquin League. The Orange and Navy finished behind Fairmont Prep (7-0-1) and Western Christian (5-1-2) and in front of Webb (2-5-1) and Samueli Academy (0-8). Sophomore Caroline Morehouse and Junior Lucy Cuevas led the team with 10 plus goals each, while Audrina Bonilla led the team in assists. Sophomore Goalkeeper Maycee Mock recorded 11 shutouts. The Orange and Navy are predicted to land in Division 4 or Division 5. Brackets will be released on Saturday, February 8th at 10:00 am. The first round will be on Wednesday, February 12th.
BOYS SOCCER: 10-6-3
The Triton Boys Soccer Program has secured a spot in the postseason after the most successful season in program history and winning the first-ever Academy League Title. The team finished the year 7-1-2 in the Academy League and 10-6-3 overall. The Orange and Navy only dropped one game in league play to TVT and ended the season on a five-game winning streak. Senior Abraham Abbasi led the team in goals scored this season and Junior midfielder Aiden Lynch led the team in assists. Freshman goalkeeper Kasper Batley recorded three shutouts and 168 saves. The Tritons are predicted to land in Division 7 or 8 in the postseason and brackets will be released on Saturday, February 8th at 10:00 am. The first round will be on Thursday, February 13th.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: 12-14
The Triton Girls Basketball team secured a spot in the postseason for the seventh year in a row. The team finished the year 12-14 and went 2-2 in the San Joaquin League amongst Fairmont Prep and Avalon playing one of the strongest strength of schedules for the second season in a row. This season the Orange and Navy had notable wins against Crean Lutheran, Marina, and Oak Hills and hosted the Girls Basketball Showcase for the second year in a row. Junior Vivian Villagrana averaged 19.2 points per game and had 461 points this season. Senior Caylie Villagrana had 78 assists and 49 steals. Junior Angie Martinez had 150 rebounds and 39 blocks. The team finished ranked in the top 25 of the Orange County Register Rankings. They are predicted to land in Division 3 or Division 4. Brackets will be released on Saturday, February 8th at 12:00pm. The first round will be on Thursday, February 13th.
BOYS BASKETBALL: 19-7
The Triton Boys Basketball team secured a spot in the postseason for the ninth year in a row, every year since the squad has competed at the varsity level. The team finished the year 19-7 and went 5-1 in the San Joaquin League, winning a league title for the third year in a row, the fourth title in program history. Out of four teams in the league: Fairmont Prep, San Gabriel, and Western Christian, the team finished co-league champions with Fairmont Prep and had a top 25 strength of schedule again. The program had notable wins against Edison, La Habra, San Juan Hills, and the fifth-ranked team in Nevada, Spanish Springs. Senior EJ Spillman had a strong season, averaging 14.3 points and 5.2 assists per game and recording 373 points and 134 assists. Senior Logan Stewart had 15 blocks and 182 rebounds. Michael Noel and Hudson Reynolds had 34 and 33 steals. The Tritons are anticipated to fall in Division 2. Brackets will be released on Saturday, February 8th at 12:00 pm. The first round will be on Wednesday, February 12th.
